The database is locked again. The time is 9:54 P.M. CST (GMT -6). This is fine, but database locks give me jitters because of recent talk about locking for up to twenty-four hours. This would not be a favorable circumstance and I am worried about it. Are we going to have some warning before that big lockdown takes place? I think we should. :)

Yes, you'll get plenty of warning if we plan it rather than having it just happen. The problem currently is binlog disk space exhaustion on the master. This has happened to us once before. We really need to patch MySQL to stop it from happening, or pressure the MySQL team to fix it for us.
