I know he's Canadian, & for some reason I think he lives in Vancouver. If that's right, then I suspect he must be on speaking terms with Ray.

User Friendly is a very popular webcomic among geeks, with a generally "open source" [pick your favourite not-quite-synonym] leaning. For instance, Illiad (the author) takes any opportunity going to satirically attack companies like SCO, Microsoft, and SonyBMG (over their recent DRM troubles).

Very interesting! I live in Richmond as well.
According to http://www.iconsf.org/archive/icon23/frazer_jd.htm his full name is John Douglas Robertshaw-Frazer. His latest book, "Money For Content and Your Clicks For Free" was just published last month
Robertshaw is not a very common name. The only one that I found in the telephone listings for Richmond is Stan Robertshaw who ran for Richmond City Council in 2002, and finished dead last. He campaigned as "The Bagman", attending all his campaign appearances with a paper bag over his head. It's conceivable that this our guy's father, but I'll need to check that out before I can say so for sure.

Well, if you ever bump into him, you can tell him that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Friendly is still available..

On the topic of webcomic strips I found this a little amusing (it's a few days old so sorry if it's already been posted, I'm currently up to 836 unread messages from the mailing list :P):

Wow!! I've been plowing through it the last couple days. I must be doing something right to have my list down to a mere 185. :-)
