One feature I've wanted for a while is the ability to search the wikitext of pages. This comes up most frequently when I'm using [[Special:Whatlinkshere]], and when I get to the page, I can't find the link (as it's piped). If a scan of the page doesn't do the trick, then I have to copy the wikitext into a text editor and search the exposed markup there. It'd be great to be able to do this using the search tool. How feasible is this?

My browser has text search, so I can use it with the edit box open.

Mine does as well (I'm using FireFox), but it doesn't seem to like to search the text box, instead getting everything that isn't in the box.

I think there is something at [[WP:TOOLS]] to address this.

Hmmm... I'm not finding anything. Could you be more specific?

No idea if it works or not.

Hmmm. Thanks, I'll take looks at those.

If memory serves, not searching inside text boxes is a problem for Firefox generally, not just on Wikipedia. Opera can handle it, though.

The Mozilla suite still searches text boxes just fine. (It was something they explicitly *took out* of Firefox; not sure if there's a way to switch it back on.) Haven't tried Seamonkey.
