" in which he claimed that the "super smart kids" in his school are planning to bring down Wikipedia"
He didn't say how did he? Because I can't get wikipedia, wikibooks, or meta . There is a note saying servers will be down at 2 -3 tomorrow morning UTC but that's hours away. Could it be DOS attack or am I being paranoid?

Ha! I'm not the only one! "Server will be down for maintenance on 2004-05-12 from about 02:00 to 03:00 UTC" it says, and it's stupid!
Anyway, let's have a break!

It sounds like a variation on a theme from fiction where the visitor announces that he will turn off the sun if the natives don't behave. An eclipse, about which he had previous knowledge then just happens at his command. The problem is that such a phenomenon at any given place is not that common. Mark Twain used that idea in his "Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court"; he was very effective at trolling the credulity of others.
