A perfectly legitimate use of a wiki. A completely useless use, sure, but perfectly legitimate. Some of the people posting to mediawiki-l have really bad uses for Mediawiki - basically, anything that isn't a wiki shouldn't be running on Mediawiki.

I was attempting to suggest "wrong" in the "sick and twisted" sense, not as in the "a misapplication of the tool" sense.

I thought you might - I still disagree. It's a fun project.
I have no moral indignation over it. Sick and twisted isn't necessarily a bad thing... The LOLcat stuff is largely immature, but there are flashes of brilliance in it. Parts of this site among them.
Associated with the site is a picture of Jesus up on the cross, with the LOLCAT script "BRB". I almost fell over laughing when I saw that one.
And the "kthxbai" at the end of the last verse of the last book in the Wiki proper (Revelation 22; http://www.lolcatbible.com/index.php?title=Revelation_22 )...

I find it hilarious, in a very twisted way. What an odd idea for a wiki. You get all kinds on the internet.

Brilliant actually. I read the subject and I was expecting something like video poker.

Yeah, wikis can be used for whatever you feel like, so long as it's not illegal I suppose...

What about for ordinary run of the mill websites? No need for web builder software, just log in and edit the pages right in your browser. I can see this for those who want to provide mostly text content with a few images here and there. It wouldn't be good for those who want their sites top heavy with flashy shit.
One advantage of this approach is if you leave the talk pages unprotected it's easy for readers to comment on individual pages and report broken links. On other sites every such comment goes to an overstuffed, overspammed webmaster mailbox.
