Or not. I had my email address public, until I got fed up with the abusive emails (I get enough of that on my Talk page) and deleted it.

I was thinking along these lines as well. I think accountability, responsiveness, communication and trust could be improved by allowing users alternate ways of contacting people, especially admins: users may well have reasons for wanting to get in contact with an admin without letting the whole world know about it.

Then why not get yourself an email address specifically for wikipedia? I set myself a gmail account for this purpose, and have found it infinitely useful (I can even send you an invitation if you want).
