It is my sincere hope that people will just stop discussing this whole Essjay episode ad nauseum.
Here is someone who made a mistake. You may even say a big mistake. For that mistake he lost his credibility, he lost his community, he lost his job at Wikia, and he is the subject of disparaging articles and opinions both online and in print.
Apart from a public lynching, what else do people want from him?
Let him go in peace. There is no need to stomp on every last shred of dignity he still has.

Did he? I missed that. I've seen Jimbo asking him to resign his positions of trust in the Wikipedia community, but I haven't seen anything about his new job at Wikia.

Agreed. Let us not forget the immense work he has done for wikipedia, both as a writer and as a part of the administration. The horse has been killed, now lets just let it go.

Agreed. It's really sad...and now worse that it cost him his job. I hate how toxic the culture can become.
I was all for him resigning his positions in the Wikipedia community but it's sad that he lost his job at Wikia over this.

To clarify - it appears he resigned, not fired. he lost his job, but by his own decision.

Good points. But, the worst of it should be over now.

Surely what people should be more worried about are the inherent flaws in Wikipedia's organisation rather than Essjay in particular.
I would suspect some of the attention on Essjay personally is partly people avoiding some awkward realities about the bigger picture.
