Just a friendly announcement: Jimbo has announced that the ArbCom elections procedure will be his second proposal, a hybrid procedure, after closing the straw poll. Check [[Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee Elections December 2005]] for more information. In addition, I've started some discussion at the talk page - your input would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure that people have the page watchlisted, so I thought I'd bring it out here to gain more attention. As usual, turn to the [[WP:SIGN|Wikipedia Signpost]] on Monday for complete and comprehensive coverage. Thanks!

Does "patterned as closely as is reasonable after the RfA process" mean that everyone's support/oppose vote will be visible to all? And that special:boardvote will therefore not be used?

To elaborate: I'm not sure how much different this is from the "disendorsements" that seem to be so widely reviled.

Presumably so, yes. I don't see what's so wrong about this. This is the nomination process, not the election itself.

What's the difference between publicly opposing a candidacy, and a "disendorsement"?

Wording. Of course it wont tell us much because our more competant wikipolictians are not going to play their cards too early.
