So we can't write our political views on our userpages? I have a little bit of my politcal views on my userpage, should I delete it? If I don't delete it, should my ban be upheld?
Stop it with the straw man argument. What you write on your user page does not show up in page histories or on RC.
Being a not being a "free speech forum" is a bit different than actively banning people for expressing opinions.
Express your opinions /on/ your user page not /by/ your user page.

No, I was genuinely asking because it sounded like you didn't think any views (apart from in NPOV format) should be coveyed by users. You said that Wikipedia was not a free speech forum. I think that userpages are much better at conveying messages than usernames (ie. can convey actual thoughts). So you're saying that userpages can be "free speech forums", but usernames cannot. That seems pretty superficial to me.

-- Oh Cmon Dan-- if you really think that the 'no inflammatory names' policy is unfair you might try to pick a less benign name yourself. That you think there is no difference bettween context comment and pervasive username is disingenous at best. Maybe youre just trolling tonight...
