BTW, are there any plans for a bibliographic database? Something like BibTex meets MediaWiki.
If it wasn't such a pain to add references people would do it more often. First, one has to find the right template. Then one has to figure out how to use it. And there is no way to find out if someone else has already typed in the same reference in another article.

I never bother with this myself. I use <ref> tags, but enter the reference itself as text with maybe a link. I leave formatting, citation templates etc. to someone who cares.

Exactly. That's the great benefit the wiki concept gives. You do as much as you can and want to do, and others do the same. Eventually, it is done. And so the beat goes on... At the moment, I see far too many {{fact}} templates in articles. I can never remember how to do <ref>s, simple as they are, so I usually just use [http://link] and maybe leave a note on the talk page.

Here's something I floated after the chat in #openaccess on 2006-12-17/18:
<Alphax> possibly a silly idea for a new project - a directory of printed sources? <Alphax> no, I mean a user-edited directory of books on certain topics <Alphax> wikibibliography or something
(this was after discussing with a librarian about how it's really hard for students to find books on certain topics, etc.)
