These sort of technological hurdles could be made lower.
People most likely send messages to the list directly and unsubscribed simply because they don't know *how* to subscribe. If the bounce message makes it crystal-clear, they probably then would.

It probably doesn't help that our carefully-written and phrased list info page just got swapped out for the generic one that comes with Mailman ...
