which should have been the impetus to delete all references to Wikipedia not only from the content pages, but also in the minds of the contributors.
Sanger has managed to implement editing power over the minds of his contributors? Neat! Now we ought to work on creating a similar, but more democratic, capability for *our* site, so it can be "Wikipedia: The Free Encyclopedia whose Editors' Minds Anyone can Change!"

Heh!
The Tinfinger guy has a point, though; it's not good for a project for its leader to be so obsessed with comparisons to another project, or indeed its contributors to be (if they actually care as much as Larry Sanger thinks they do.)
I'm not sure how much Larry Sanger realises how this demeans his project by making it look like simply a sour-grapes attempt to show Wikipedia, and Jimmy, that he was the one with the right ideas all along.

I think you're overplaying Larry's obsession with Wikipedia. While it's probably a valid criticism that he talks about Wikipedia a bit too much at times, it seems to me that he's aware of this fact, and does successfully focus on Citizendium as a separate project most of the time.
His latest blog entry doesn't seem to me to be any more obsessive than http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node=Everything2%20is%20not%20Wikipedia
