I can't disagree with you more Fred. Shades of grey are what the world is about. Every story has multiple sides. Every person has their own version of "truth". We should try to present all the main views.

We don't present all main views or even the predominant view. We censor views we feel are incorrect and substitute euphamisms; so East Germany becomes a "socialist country", not a totalitarian Marxist-Leninist government imposed by fiat on the Soviet Zone of occupied Germany.

Exactly. The "politically correct" (I HATE that term) get their way on every article. Nobody ever did anything wrong. Nobody every committed a crime. Even if they've been tried and convicted, we have to weasel around what they did. WHitewashing the current history of the Middle East by trying to claim that there is no such thing as terrorism is nonsense.

There's a lot of views you can have though.
One view that people hold is that East Germany is a country in which the rights of the proletariat were protected against exploitation by the imperialistic expansionism of the United States and its cronies, as opposed to West Germany, where exploitation by the owners of the means of production was allowed to run rampant.
This isn't a view I hold, but it's one that is held.
Are we going to say that it's wrong? I don't see how we can make that case.
