Draw your own conclusions. Don't bother attempting comparisons to Britannica - they don't even rate a mention.

It seems odd that Basque was the top language Google performing these searches.

That's not calculated in absolute terms: http://www.google.com/intl/en/trends/about.html#4

I really don't think there are any conclusions to draw. "wiki" is obviously tied to wikipedia so of course they have risen slightly (well, that, and the fact that small wikis are becoming way popular). The other three, "open source", "free software" and "linux" are completely 100% unrelated to wikipedia. We all make a deep connection between wikipedia and those three, but the general public has NO idea that we are an off-shoot of the open source movement.
I mean, if you are the guy looking up [[Boobs]] or [[Some strange anime]] (which would be about 75% of our audience), you're not gonna care about GFDL or free software or anything similar. Our audience just doesn't make that connection.

It is interesting the slow rise of "wiki" after Wikipedia has introduced the term to the public.
What I find more amusing is comparing "wikipedia" and "porn". Looks like Wikipedia's caught up with porn in 2007! More interest in Wikipedia, or less interest in porn? You decide. :)

Observations: The one place where "wiki" is a more popular search term than "wikipedia" is Japan.
In the cities where Wikipedia is most popular only Helsinki has a rival porn score.
The top 6 porn consuming cities are all in the United Kingdom.
The places where Jesus is more popular than Wikipedia are Spanish speaking
These are also the places where Jesus is more popular than porn.

Dark places, evil places! Do not go there, children, for you will be eaten alive by werewolfs!

Fascinating...
Well, Jésus is a Spanish first name.

There is a steady downward trend for linux, while "free software" and "open source" are really flat. So you could perhaps argue something like the open-source, free Wikipedia succeeding despite no overall trend towards open-source, free things. Or equally, that Wikipedia's success is not helping the open source movement in general. Or something.
