I blocked the person who nominated this article for deletion for 24 hours for being stupid.

Pulled. Stupidity is not a valid reason for blocking.

I respectfully disagree.

"Don't be a Dick"?
I agree with geni (world to end soon; film at 11): Eclectick should not be blocked. He's astoundingly ignorant and way too aggressive, but I still hope that careful raps with the cluebat will straighten him out.

He certainly needs a good going over with a clue-by-four until he understands that using the term "our military" on a multi-national encyclopedia is both inappropriate and extremely offensive.

It is also mildy ironic timeing considering this:

I would personally make it a block for disruption rather than stupidity, but only if a warning with the first offense doesn't straighten him out.

I agree. Which is why I'm puzzled at pulling the cluebat back after it has been laid down.

Me2. I'm not an admin, and I have a somewhat utopian view of how they should behave. But I would be cut as hell to be blocked for pure stupidity or ignorance. Unless the guy showed wilful disregard for procedure (as opposed to thinking that AfD was a good place to deal with this stuff), or was a repeat offender, or refused to head warnings etc etc.
I guess I don't like blocking. And I feel like people deserve a "you will be blocked" warning at least. But I suppose adminning is frustrating work too. So...(conclusion at 12:30, straight after Sean's film).

We interrupt these messages for an important bulletin: clueness seems to have transpired! Please stand down for the moment, while still keeping an eye on him and the cluebats ready.

WP:POINT arguably, also preserving them from the effects of their own idiocy, as a matter of kindness. Not that I'd have blocked for an apparently honest mistake. Guy (JzG)

WP:POINT only aplies when you are doing things that you don't want to happen in order to make a point

Or things you don't think will happen. Or you are just being bloody minded. Jason Gastrich found lots of ways :-) Guy (JzG)

Don't do that. That's abusive of your authority.

Well, the person in question has been unblocked now and has admitted his mistake, so the point is moot.

We all make mistakes...
Sean,
I have speedy kept the article as:
* the nominator did not sign the nomination;
* all of the votes were keep with seveal speedy keeps; and
* the nominator appeared to want just one sentence deleted which should be handled through the talk page process.
