I say let a thousand flowers bloom... the web is big enough for Wikipedia, Centiaire, Citizendium, Conservapedia (yuck!), and a bunch of other approaches to attempting to build a cooperatively-edited compendium of information, with different ground rules. Conservapedia does not deserve mention here, entirely because it is not under a free content licence.
(And it would probably be good for Citizendium to clarify this sooner rather than later.)

I don't think that it's about any side winning. A will of desire to win can be a distraction from one's goals.
