One golden quote from that, anyway: 'cynics are concerned'. WP changes the world - up to now, cynics through history have cultivated disdain and a total lack of concern in relation to human striving , but a whiff of false data on our pet wiki, and we see a radical upset.
Of course it is possible our reporter is getting his cynics and his sceptics in a twist ...

Nice to see some "good press" for a change, but theyr factual accuracy could have been better... Refering to www.wikipedia.com rather than en.wikipedia.org and saying that contributions by anonymous users are banned (they can contribute just fine, just not create new articles), and saying there are 600 editors (asume they mean admins) and such.
Yes, this kind of articles makes me wish the guardian had an edit button. Does anyone know how to reach the person who wrote it to get it corrected?

Hmph! That's an interesting feature of the mailing list software. The actual email address is reader (at) guardian.co.uk
It'll also be interesting to see if this gets to the list without being moderated, since it's the third posting I've made recently...

You mean someone actually wrote some asinine bit of code to turn email addresses into nonsense? Ridiculous.
Every cloud has a silver lining. Thanks to this affair we seem to have acquired our first leader articles in national press, and (I'm rather proud of this) a definite article. Now we're The Wikipedia.
