Subject: [WikiEN-l] A quiet, peaceful email list for experienced en contributors?
Hi all,
I notice that lately this mailing list seems to be almost overrun
with a lot of noise: complaints about blocking, diatribes about
perceived wrongs, requests of various kinds. Whereas what I would
really like is a place where the most committed and experienced
Wikipedians can discuss more serious issues in a bit of depth: where
the project is going, recurring problems at a more abstract level,
general issues more distilled than "omg [[
foo.com]] is so crap!" etc.
Is there such a list, or place to talk? Is there interest in creating one?
There is certainly a need for the current list, to allow such
day-to-day discussions to take place, but somewhere to escape the
noise and engage in a bit of deeper reflection would be nice.
Any ideas?
Steve
Good idea. Such an invitation only list, provided games are not being played with the
invitations (fat chance) would return some part of the serious discussion now being
conducted on private lists such as the arbcom list to the community. However if the usual
spammers are still here, what would be the point. A problem there, as some of those whose
posts I always delete consider themselves valuable contributors to the conversation.
