In the name of all things wiki ; please don't inflame the situation by making things personal.
I think all those involved should apologize for all actual or perceived wrongs. But demanding an apology is a sure way of getting a slap in the face in return instead of what you really want.

I would like to point out that Mav never asked for an apology! For some reason people think he is making attacks, he is just making statements, you people are taking this too personally, and being very rude about it! All I ever asked for was for some intervention, b/c people were reverting without even looking at content, and people were biting the newbie. You people are lucky that I have talked with him extensively, and supported his effort, otherwise we might have another newbie leaving mad. I am really sick of this type of behavior!

Having not been involved in the Edit war -- and simply dealing with the issue of Abe's status -- it seems rather like Abe didnt cross the real hard-and-fast line -- any more than other sysops have in the past.
While its a good sign that there seems to be some developing sense of accountability for sysops, and that these are being finalized into some explicit laws of conduct, and being enforced. Im not sure if theyre applied in an absolutely even manner -- but who cares -- as Jim is fond of saying -- "everybody cut each other some slack."
This particular case seems to be cleared up. I would advocate that Abe be reinstated, if hes not already -- that this be about a clarification of the laws of sysopdom, and not about a submission to authority -- which many good people find difficult if its beyond reason. But I only speak from ignorance of all concerned details.
Objectively, -S-
