It's a search engine, but done wiki-style for the people because automagical search engines are too easily gamed.
It has nothing to do with Wikimedia or Amazon -- it's just a Wikia thing.

Jimbo has been chasing up as many cases of this as possible to point out that it's nothing to do with Wikipedia at all, and tries to make this clear on the above home page for it.
