I believe it's a good idea to warn people about the dangers of using your real name when registering with Wikipedia. But since most fail to read that email addresses are needed to retrieve forgotten passwords, I'm unsure if this would actually be effective.

Yes, the message MediaWiki:Signupend shows up down at the bottom of the new account page anyway and is easy to miss.

Last time I checked it was shown to the right of the register box. If it is put there, at least it is easier not to miss.
