Can people here please try to trim down quoted material when replying? Some of you are quoting back pages and pages of stuff, when all that's needed is a brief excerpt to establish context. The worst excesses in this regard tend to go along with [[top-posting]], though quoting back a huge post and then bottom-posting beneath it can be pretty annoying too. Sometimes people are even quoting back the list footer; a post a couple of days ago actually had *four* copies of it trailing off the end.

I agree with the sentiment. But I have actually killfiled a number of posters to this list who really cannot hack the basic etiquette (guys, if I ever need to read those posts, they are there on the Web archive - but if you can't keep it crisp then I'm not going to see it on my first pass).
