There's no effective technical solution to a bad thread. You can't really ban a thread. A much better solution is what charles.r.matthews did: draw attention to the fact that thread is stupid, and ask people to drop it. Anyone can do that.

Thank you for your patience. This might be expected as Wikipedia moves into the humanities. As a non-tech head, I find the endless discussions at WP:ATT & WP:RS fascinating, while some of the best guidance available is under their nose at the excellant article
