Could we make a separate namespace for all of the AfD archives? Right now, [[Special:Randompage/Wikipedia]] only gives me AfD pages, and doing a search in the Wikipedia namespace is near impossible. We could call it "Deletion" and only put the AfD stuff in it, or we could call it "Archives" and put some other stuff in it (FAC, RFA). But I really think that putting the infinite cruft into a separate namespace would make some of these technical features easier to use.

Strongly agree with giving AfDs their own namespace. (This has been proposed before but never got anywhere.) Wikipedia: space search is all but useless now.
One further suggestion: that they not be indexed by Google. Why? It just adds noise to search results, and there are plenty of people who have had nothing to do with Wikipedia other than the fact that someone wrote a miserably bad or pure vanity article about them, and thanks to AfD the first several hits on their names are us and mirrors proclaiming "vanity, kill it quickly with an axe" or "not notable, delete". They usually tend to be upset about this and I can't say that I blame them.

Absoultely. Strong strong support from me on this.

Instead of a new namespace for AfDs, I can offer one for all tasks (cleanup, wikify, rewrite, ect.), _including_ AfD. See the "tasks" tab at [1] and my recent mail on wikipedia-l. The associated talk pages could become "noindex" for bots.

I think the idea is good, but neither of those names quite hits the nail on the head - there are all sorts of archives which shouldn't be in there, and no reason to have to move pages *into* the "archive" space rather than creating them in the first place. [Indeed, performing such moves would require admin access whatever the permissions of the namespace, as the point would be somewhat lost if we didn't delete the redirects afterwards]
Meanwhile, Magnus has begun work on finally automating such pages completely [see http://mail.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikipedia-l/2005-December/043073.html], and has called the corresponding namespace "Tasks", which I think seems a very sensible name (although the actual tasks currently have ugly numeric names, which needs fixing IMHO).

I don't think it's good design to create a whole new namespace simply because you want to exclude certain pages from Randompage. In my opinion this is something which should be fixed within Randompage. A new namespace should be significantly different from the other namespaces, usually because there are display differences.
