Apologies for my ignorance, but could someone explain what a pre-filled template is? Is it just having default text in the create new article
page?
I must have missed the beginning of the discussion. Thanks!
Basically, just now, you click "Create this arricle", and you get a blank screen.
The pre-filling idea is that when you click "Create this article", you get a screen with skeleton headings, a bit of boilerplate text... basically, as though someone had edited the page before you and added some boilerplate. It gives a framework to write around rather than just the terrifying whiteness.

Thanks for the reply! This might have been mentioned already, but if we do this, won't we get tons of newly created articles with just the text template?

These will not be difficult to spot and delete :-). A handy cheat is to ensure the text template contains [[Category:Unchecked articles]]... or, for that matter, that it's automatically appended to the page afterwards.

I'd just put it in the template ;-)
