Folks,
Something that has been going through my mind: How would you feel about changing the WP moniker from "the free encyclopedia" or " the encyclopedia that anyone can edit" to "Wikipedia - The Living Encyclopedia"? I believe this describes the very heart of what it really is.
I'm still relatively new around here; where, or to whom, should a proposal for such a change be made?

I'm not fond of this. It's awfully unfriendly to the recently announced Encyclopedia of Life, and it seems to emphasis the wiki/technology aspects over the Free aspect, which people already have problems with and which is always under attack.

How in the world is it unfriendly to the Encyclopedia of Life? They're not the sort to copyright "Life." And Marc's "living" means something entirely different from "life" in the EoL--unless Marc's life is about the editors, in which case I don't get how it emphasizes technology.
I like "the encyclopedia anyone can edit," something that really is always under attack from just about everybody on Wikipedia, inlcuding those of us who want the vandals stomped sooner, and want the admins to stop giving preference to vandals over established editors or even non-vandals.
I'll go back to editing, but I'll let the articles I edit stay vandalized--it's obvious that vandalism is a prefered state on Wikipedia. I'm going to collect the more amusing ones and see how long the vandalism lasts--then I'll have a gift for all those admins who think IP vandals will become contributors (if someone besides that admin ever invites them to, that is).
Anyone *can* edit, doesn't mean everyone *should* edit.
