On another note, there has been doubt about his actual/perceived/desired gender. Since he is now apparently going by Adam, does that mean he would like us to refer to him as a male?

Yes. He is and has always been male. We've sometimes refered to him as female because some of his aliases were female, but that was only to trick us. LDan
You think it is a trick, and thus *bad behavior*, to hide a male status under a female name, or not to mention one is a female under a male name ?

I don't think that's what he meant. Choosing an alias in order to remain anonymous is perfectly acceptable. Even choosing an alias that causes people to guess wrong about your sex is not a problem.
The problem that many people had with Adam's behavior in the past is that he created several aliases in order to evade a ban, and in order to deceive people, rather than merely to hide his true identity.
There's a somewhat subtle point here -- community does not require true identities, but it does require consistent identities. I don't really care who anyone here is "in real life" (though I do slightly prefer to know), but I do care if someone takes on multiple identities in order to play games.
