Daniel,
please describe in your own words how you think the current process of page deletion, page protection and IP banning works. If you name the right pages and describe the process correctly, I have no objections to making you a sysop.
Regards,
Erik

When did we start having quizzes for sysops?

Daniel has forwarded an off-topic petition to this list, a telltale sign of newbie-ish behavior. He's also new to the community. Is it too much to ask whether he understands how the process works? The last thing we need is sysops who delete pages willy nilly.

Erik

Actually, I used to see lots of new sysops delete pages too much (not willy nilly, but also not in accordance with policy). And it doesn't matter that I don't see it now, because I'm not looking for it anymore. I think that it's good to give new sysops a quiz (or perhaps better, a summary course of instruction).
Although I don't see that LittleDan needs to be singled out for it.

I think Toby is right. We probably should have a sysop constitution page which emphasizes the purely technical nature of it, and explaining both to users and to new sysops what the limitations are, etc.
