I can't help it, Gmail is set to top post too. And since all messages are displayed in a conversation style, you don't need to worry about that previous message. All quoted text is surpressed unless you reply to specific part of it.
So the answer is clear: everyone subscribing to WikiEN-l should be compelled to use Gmail!

I do use Gmail, just not it's crappy web interface (and it's POP interface isn't much better). Mostly, I get my messages forwarded to an account that doesn't cost me anything to download from. You seem to forget that not all of us are on unlimited high-speed internet...

It was a lovely explanation, quite interesting and informative. However, it's also anectdotal original research, which is inappropriate for a Wikipedia article.
