Agree. OTOH WP is a reference site. There will be many people who come to WP with the aim of looking up some one thing. This gives a natural pattern of short visits, not surfing around. The overall reach shows the users who arrive knowing they want to look something up, plus the input from search engines. We shouldn't get too hung up about the number of page views. If people find what they want on the first page they view, so much the better.
For me, page views are working about 2/3 of the time and edits are working not very often. So I wouldn't be so blase about the numbers ... Do we have any numbers about requests made vs requests served? I assume the devs are *painfully* aware.

I have mostly working but slow views right now, but when I look at the source they're all served in less than 0.5sec, which means there is a "slow spot" on the way. Usually I'd say it's here (university net), but if many people experience it, it might be closer to the colo...

I wasn't suggesting complacency about the service being provided right now. My point was about modes of using web sites. If people do hit-and-run access to WP, then that's a different pattern to some other sites, and that comes up if you do comparisons at Alexa with other sites with similar reach.
