A few of you are sending messages to this list with malformed lines that break the RFC 2822 guidelines of avoiding lines longer than 78 characters. This is particularly noticeable when browsing the list archives on the Web, where the lines go way out to the right and are very difficult to read.

I notice the Gmail one doesn't actually ahhh solve the problem with long quotes (there's no "wrap a quote properly") option.
I'd say the most feasible solution to the stated problem is wrap in the list archives.
