There were no contributions when I wrote to the list. It seemed to me at
the time that this was a person who already had another account and
created this one to get information on the site that would otherwise be
edited mercilessly. If this is an active user, and not just a user page,
then of course, by all means welcome them to Wikipedia (although their
contributions seem to be to her own user page, RK's user page, and a
talk page of an article). It seems the part of my brain responsible for
tact was switched off when I posted. With a clear mind, I suppose there
isn't a problem with this user, besides just "ruffling my feathers". As
Christopher suggested, a better course of action would be to engage them
into a dialog, which I plan to do if a problem comes up with this user.
However, please do not presume to know my political views. I don't
believe I've made them public, and they do not factor into this issue.
My quarrel had to do with a page being NPOV, not against my beliefs.
You say no apology is necessary, but I'll apologize anyway. I'm sorry
for jumping to conclusions and suggesting something as severe as a ban
when clearly my first step should have been to leave a note on the
user's talk page.

No, I disagree - in fact the user is already
contributing to other pages as
well. You should welcome her, and her new contributions, and be incouraging,
and not a snot that is trying to advocate severe measures against a
legitimate user simply on the basis of your cynical and callous political
views. No apology is necessary, Jesse, just think before you type next
time. -SV

photos of Rachel Corrie and links about her death. She died while playing
chicken with an Israeli bulldozer, in protest of the destruction of
Palestinian settlement. The user has made no contributions other than
turning their user page into a non-NPOV memorial to Rachel Corrie. I move
that the user be banned. If their IP can be matched to another user, I think
that
the user should be warned against doing that in the future.
