Americans might be aware of a recent court case involving a student suing on the basis of being punished in school for using the word "fuck", which he claimed was an infringement of his right to free speech. It has been mentioned before, yes. (Don't recall if it was on the mailing list or the 'pedia.) It's worth noting (previous mention was before the case went to trial) that the kid won.
