It has been expressed by many users that the Wikimedia Foundation should contact the authorities in control of the Jordanhill railway station, and request a plaque be placed at the station, in commemoration of the 1 millionth English article.

I fear that the plaque would be promptly vandalised...
I have no doubt that we could get the wording right, the plaque designed and paid for, just by the enthusiastic Wikipedians who are (like me) chuffed at reaching a million articles and then having the article promptly expanded and polished and illustrated by a team of volunteers. This is all great stuff. It can even be a good media story, with Jimbo and ScotRail MD Mary Dickson standing together to unveil the plaque before the crowd of television reporters and curious commuters.
But I have to wonder about the reaction of the railway administration and whether they might think we are taking ourselves a bit too seriously. It's only a website, after all.
