It is quite easy for POV pushers to get their way on Wikipedia by relentless reversion and editing, but much harder for a political campaign to get away with it, I think, because there is much less inclination to just wander away and leave the idiots to it. There are notable exceptions, naturally. Part of the perceived problem lies in the idea that something which is briefly crap is therefore crap; a bad article up for a week before it gets spotted and fixed is not, in the end, a big deal, unless it is seriously defamatory (which is likely to get picked up by RC patrollers).
I've also noticed Commons is being used to upload PR pictures too, for spin purposes.
And? What's the problem with having good quality photographs of subjects released to Commons?
