Jim Sprigg was born October 1972 in Sandbach, Cheshire, to Scot's parents. An attentive student he passed 10 GCSE Exams and 6 A-Levels before obtaining a double-first from St. Johns College, Oxford. After working briefly in market research, he returned to studies, gaining a PhD in wave scattering theory from the University of Manchester, and going on to work in ocean circulation theory at their School of Oceanography.
