Hi Jimmy,
I recently sent this HTMLlified long text to the WikiEN-l mailing list:
(the file has no JavaScript, if you have any doubts, open it in an editor first)
I fear that the domain name donation bit (see side note to Gripe #1) might have gotten overlooked.
I've also been thinking: For purposes of turning over the domain name, how am I to know whether a person contacting me (who could, say, claim to be an authorized Wikipedia admin) is really who and what they claim to be? How can I be sure I'm not turning over the domain name to someone who just wants to score a possibly high-exposure domain name?
It's for this reason that I would like to ask you if I can deal directly with you in doing the turnover. While I'm a fairly new Wikipedian and don't know you personally, your record as the Wikipedia founder speaks for itself so with you at least I can be certain.
Please email me direct and let me know if you've got a public key (say, for PGP or whatever you use) and I will duly send you all the details for the wikipaedia.net domain.
(Yep, I know I sound pretty paranoid -- but better be safe than sorry! The example detailed in the attendant HTML file shows that it's probably a fairly good idea to be careful and protect our assets.)
Thanks and regards, Jens
