Basically I agree. Wikipedia has in the past been a place where people do not usually 'argue from authority', based on claims to be qualified. I don't think that should change. The basic content policies do not need to mention any kind of qualifications or credentials for editors. So that for the most important part of the mission, writing good articles, this is all secondary. (It is more important than, for example, people claiming conversational Spanish, but less important than being able to support edits to content with references.)
