including posting an individuals IP address on the internet , could have serious consequences for many people. Wiki even concedes in it;s own pages, that such things can occur more or less 'by accident', but make no effort to correct or remove slanderous comments and peron's IP addresses. In a world where IP Blacklists sites have been greatly on the rise, wiki has set a dangerous precedent for itself, and made itslef a law unto itself.
I'm uninvolved with this matter, but I thought I should point out that as a technical matter, IP addresses are not private information, but on the contrary are explicitly designed as public identifiers for computers on a public computer network---this is why they were created. Any time you use the internet, you are broadcasting your IP address to all sites you connect to, so the only way to keep that information private is to refrain from visiting websites.
In fact, even this email you just sent says right in it that it was sent by "oemcomputer ([81.104.242.15])", which appears to be the IP address of your ntl.com cablemodem. This information was added to the email by NTL as a means of identifying your IP address as the sender of the email. Do you plan to sue them as well for giving out your IP address in such a flagrant manner?
