How does the de.wiki deal with WP:OWN issues that are likely to arise as a result of these contests?

Apparently de-wikipedia either doesn't have that problem or already solved
it. What worries me more is people who start edit wars on purpose to
make
one of the duelists lose because they spend too much time resolving a dispute instead of writing.
