Back to the Georgia issue: suppose someone in the former Soviet territory is trying to learn English, they have internet access, and they look up their home country in the English Lanuage Wikipedia. Is the goal of Wikipedia naming conventions to make people feel good about themselves, or to help them find the article they are looking for? I think our hypothetical Georgian will find some way to cope, whatever the case may be.
