There are two reasons I don't do anything, once an
article makes its way
to VfD:
- The matter will be decided by a vote.
- The vote will ignore what I do to fix the
article.
As Eloquence once said on my talk page, "keep in mind that, while 'Votes for deletion' has votes in the title, it is not a formal vote."
I've explained in the past on [[Wikipedia talk:Deletion policy]] that there is far more to VfD than votes. Actions such as the article being rewritten obviously need to be taken into account by the sysop making the decision as to whether to delete an article. Often "votes" made prior to the rewriting will need to be discounted. If you feel there are sysops who are making deletion decisions without taking this into account, you need to address this with them, but I haven't seen any evidence of this happening. Rewritten articles are generally removed from VfD fairly soon after they have been rewritten.
