Are you suggesting that a philosopher may not self-publish? I would think that anyone can self-publish. And the category and subject of their work can be anything.
I'm saying that there is a difference between a philosopher and a loony who self-publishes a philosophical newsletter, and that Ayn Rand does not come down on the side of that divide that many of her followers would like to think she does.
