MNH was not an emergency. He did nothing which affected the functioning of Wikipedia. He simply acted ugly.
This is a point that I simply don't understand.
MNH acting ugly requires the continual attention of sysops whose time would be much better spent constructing a free encyclopedia.
The constant bickering, squabbling and edit war engendered by MNH (and his ilk) create an unpleasant, confrontational and adversarial atmosphere that will (and has) dissuaded people from contributing.
For most (all?) of us, contributing to Wikipedia is a activity that takes up our free time. Most people have no desire to do something in their free time that leads them open to conflict and abuse from people who act ugly.
Disrupting the prevailing atmosphere of amiable co-operation is detrimental to Wikipedia attracting new contributors.
Users who act ugly are detrimental to the functioning and aims of Wikipedia.
Editing wikipedia is not a human right. Bannings too good for 'em, I say.
