No - but writing about your employer even though it's not your job to do so is quite different from being paid to boost your company in Wikipedia, as well.
If I were to write about my employer, I'd probably not be whitewashing their articles, and I'm sure I'm in the majority on that.
The bigger problems about writing about one's employer are ones of perspective and the fact that most 'insider knowledge' is not documented on the outside & thus is useless for writing an encyclopedia article.
That, and getting your ass fired if your boss doesn't like what you wrote.
