No. They are purposely not protected (unless it's really, really necessary), mainly since as the article most likely to be seen by new people, it should be editable.

I would assume the FP is upload-protected!
The actual content *on* the front page is protected - so the summary paragraph for the FA, the news section, etc, are all protected, but not the articles they link to.
