Hi Jessie,
your mail today reminds me that I still owe you an answer to another mail you sent me days ago. My apologies, I am rebuilding / moving currently and don't have internet at our new home, so my volunteer activities are currently limited to a few minutes I can spare during my office work.
Concerning the Offline Workshop:
It was my intention to include all those interested in the topic. I call it a workshop because I'd like everyone who can contribute (eg. the parties you have listed) to be active and not only part of the audience.
We have done a workshop like this last year in Gdansk where three different sessions have been submitted and we (the submitters) stuck our heads together and made it one bigger session. This has been openZIM, Kiwix, WP1.0 and the team of the Malayalam Wikipedia-CD.
This year we have several plans for Wikimania which haven't all been planned completely yet due to lack of time but I like to lay them out to you, so you can see where the Foundation can kick in:
* openZIM Developers Meeting on August 2nd / 3rd (part of / in parallel to the Wikimedia Hacking Days) * Developing Nations workgroup meeting on August 2nd
Emmanuel / Kelson who is part of the openZIM team is also the developer of Kiwix and part of WP1.0 and he will be at Wikimania 2011. openZIM is sponsoring the travel to Wikimania for our developers and the participants for the Developing Nations workgroup meeting.
I am pretty sure that Martin A. Walker will (as he did last year) participate in our workshop. He is the head behind the WP1.0 rating tools.
So far from my side.
I could need support in announcing the openZIM Developers Meeting and the Developing Nations workgroup meeting. Contact person for the latter is Rupert Thurner (Wikimedia CH).
Regards,
Manuel
