I'm working on making a generic "map" class, and extending the class for different map types/sources (e.g. osm, world wind, or other types), and working with particular portions of the OpenLayers code. The delay loading works to load the JavaScript, only when a user requests a wiki page that has a map, though I think there is room for improving how this works.
Okey, good stuff.
Anyway, I can get the changes back into the MediaWiki svn in the next day or two. For me to continue committing unstable versions of code to Mediawiki svn, I would like the code to have version numbers. On the extension page, we should link to some "beta" (reasonably functional) version for people to download.
Yes you can point them to some pseudo-stable stuff by SVN version ID I guess. But the important bit is that this gets into MW SVN and isn't hosted externally IMO. So others can hack it and just so that more people notice it, and so on:)
Anyway, good stuff, do it in your own time :)
Another issue is to make sure Christian has MediaWiki svn commit access. I'm not sure of the status on getting him access.
Did he mail the wikitech list with a request et al?
