Four representatives from the Shakespeare Birthplace in Stratford upon Avon visited Winedale last weekend to present Sh at W an award. We were one of the 14 Sh "festivals" they selected and the only non- professional and educational program. All of them were very pleased with what they found here. In fact they were at times very moved by what they heard from the people they talked to. They have a mission: they are called Shakespeare on the Road. And you can read and hear, not only about their visit to Winedale, but to the other places, on www.shakespeareonthe road.com. Check it out!
One of them, Paul Edmonson, wrote a song about Shakespeare at Winedale after leaving. Much of it refers to a conversation I had with him.

Very nice, as are the numerous posts about Winedale - all very sensitively communicated and elegantly presented.
A wonderful tribute all around!

"We are the words that Shakespeare made us say – We sang his songs beneath the greenwood tree –"
I've got to say I'm not at all surprised at these folks response to Shakespeare at Winedale. Forget the Polar Vortex, Winedale has a Heart Vortex right over it, permanently....thanks Doc. Aub

How wonderful. A summer saying yes and feeling free. So often I talk about how I learned to say "yes" at Winedale. So this strikes a chord for sure.
So much is possible when you begin by saying YES!

I saw Taming tonight with my dad. Those "yeses" Mr. Edmonson writes of were rampant on the stage; the barn, "the brightest heaven of invention". And Christopher Sly? Better than clever. Better than ever. There had to have been a lot of yesses in that unexpected and delightful surprise. No spoilers. :)
I can't WAIT for Merry Wives and Troilus. I can't wait to see what "yesses" there'll be. "Would it were day!"

Hello What a great set of interviews and what a great song! I have not been back to Windedale since my summer. The audio link below reminded of the wonderful shared experience and the magic of this program. Thank you for sharing.

That piece filled my heart to overflowing, Doc. Thanks for sharing it. Makes me that much more eager to get out to the Barn this weekend to see all three performances.

I loved hearing the poem, Doc. It reminded me of the first day of my first summer at Winedale when I hopped out of my Mother's car and went running over to the "greenwood" trees outside the barn. I launched myself into the air, flipped over and landed on my feet -- something I had never done before and have never since. Sheer happiness sent me flipping.
And I love it that Winedale is being honored by Stratford upon Avon. Fitting that the spirit of Sweet William should pay tribute to a place and spirit that has so long loved and honored him.
Thanks for keeping me in the loop, love Terry
