Subject: Memorial Resolution: James Loehlin
To: Council, Faculty <fc(a)austin.utexas.edu>
I just received the following email, with the enclosed two attachements
from the Office of the General Faculty and Faculty Council at UT Austin.
Probably most (or even all) of you have received this already, but on the
chance that some of you have not, I'm forwarding the email and attachments
to the Winedale alumni mailing lists that I administer.
The email is appended below, and the two attachments are a letter and the
memorial resolution honoring James Loehlin.

Good Afternoon:
Please find attached a formal copy of the memorial resolution for the late
Professor James Loehlin, Department of English, and see below for a link to
this document on our website.
Also attached is a letter to you from our office summarizing the resolution
process for Professor Loehlin.
Though the Office of the General Faculty is a paperless office, our first
priority remains honoring the academic achievements, pedagogical
accomplishments, and lives of departed UT Austin faculty members. We are
glad to print and mail a hard copy of this memorial document to you upon
request. If you would like a hard copy, you can contact us at
fc(a)austin.utexas.edu.

Hi Friends,
The Theatre Barn at Winedale has four vintage lanterns that I'm sure you
will recognize. Two are in the front and two are in the back. Two of the
four glass chimneys are broken. Rather than replace the fixtures, I would
love to track down some replacement glass chimneys. They are an
unusual size. The glass chimney says "Artolier Corp." in cursive writing at
the top of the glass. It is approximately 9" tall with a fitted top of 4.5"
and a fitted bottom of 5". Below I've pasted pics and links of ones I've
found online, but these have already been sold. Are any Shakespeare sleuths
or antique pickers out there willing to join me in this search? If we could
find them, I believe Winedale Historical Center would reimburse us for the
cost.

Dear friends and family,
I hope you are all enjoying and/or surviving the holiday season. As we
round out December, we wanted to share an update on the Loehlin Fund’s
progress towards our matching goal.
We are thrilled to announce that donations currently total $68,464 and we
are confident that we can hit our anonymous donor's matching challenge
of $100,000
by December 31, 2023. If you are able to donate funds by the end of the
year, please do so here
<https://austincf.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=9976>.
Also consider sharing James' impact and the mission of the Loehlin Fund
with friends and family far and wide. Your employer may be able to match
your donation, which we welcome!
If you'd like your funds earmarked for the Shakespeare at Winedale program,
please select "In Honor of Shakespeare at Winedale" in the Tribute
Information field (see image below).
Please reach out with any questions to CleopatrasWomen(a)gmail.com.
We are eager to build a lasting legacy for James through the Loehlin Fund.
Website now live loehlinfund.org!
Loved ones of all kinds – students, colleagues, friends, and family have
come together to make this possible in such a beautiful way. Thank you.

Hello Winedale Alums -
When James died, many of us came forward with an immediate and beautiful
response of “What can we do, how can we help?” Our notes, meals, texts,
flowers, and acts of service have been a balm for Laurel and Jen over the
past few weeks.
To honor James and the things he most valued, Laurel partnered with the
Austin Community Foundation to establish the *James N. Loehlin Memorial
Fund <https://austincf.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=9976>* (the
Loehlin Fund, for short) in James’ honor. James worked tirelessly to kindle
our identity as learners, Shakespeareans, teachers, artists, and community
advocates; the Loehlin Fund will allow Laurel to continue his profound
legacy for years to come.
*To that end, there is exciting news. Thanks to an anonymous donor, all
contributions to the Loehlin Fund will be matched, up to $100,000, until
December 31, 2023.*
You can find the link to donate directly to the James N. Loehlin Memorial
Fund here: https://austincf.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=9976
Consider supporting the Loehlin Fund as we have the opportunity to continue
James’ legacy and ensuring this matching fund is fully utilized.

<https://www.instagram.com/loehlinfund> on Instagram for updates on
fundraising efforts and future programming. You can also view a launch
video on Vimeo <https://vimeo.com/885508850?share=copy>.
*Liz and I will be pitching in, and we hope you will too. *
Cheers,
Robert Matney
